Winter Skin Care For Men

Winter has set upon us and depending upon where you live, mom nature may be throwing you some drastic weather changes. If you live where the white stuff falls, you know what I mean. This could be the time of year when life becomes a small less comfortable and winter related wellness issues appear. I have endured lots of chilly winters in cheap pandora bracelets North East Wisconsin, so I know first hand of the brutal effects that winter can have about the male body. One of one of the most common winter ailments that many adult males suffer from (myself included) is dry skin.

Winter weather is harsher on your skin then summer time weather for numerous reasons:

The air is dryer inside the winter than inside the summer. This causes your natural body oils to evaporate quicker leaving you more vulnerable to the drying effects. You are most possibly sweating less inside the winter than you do inside the summer. Perspiration brings more of your skin oils to the surface and allows to clear out your pores. This promotes more healthy skin and tends to refresh your skin’s protective coating. Most persons are less productive inside the winter so they naturally sweat less.

The chilly winter air tends to constrict your skin producing it tighter and somewhat less porous. This can hamper your skins natural oil production to some degree. You know you’ve got it when your skin begins to feel tighter and you get that annoying prickly itch. When severe, your skin can crack and the situation becomes downright painful. This can be aggravated a lot more if your work or perform puts you outdoors inside the chilly for long periods. If you come throughout yourself in this situation, I’ve got some good ideas to assist bring you some relief.

1. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. Worth repeating because it could be the most perfect element you can do for your dry skin. At a minimum, you should moisturize using a body lotion once per day inside the winter. You can do it more often if needed. the most perfect time to moisturize is right after you have toweled off from your shower when your skin is still moist but not dripping wet. The lotion will “lock in” the moisture from your shower.

Make sure your body lotion is unscented. You don’t want to smell like a bouquet of roses for your buddies in the business office or the shop! I once created the mistake of grabbing my wife’s lotion when I was in a hurry. I new it was heavily scented but I figured it might fade soon enough. Well it didn’t, and I heard about it to the rest of the day from the guys at work!

You can moisturize your face inside the same manner, however, I suggest that you use a lotion that is specifically formulated to the face. Body lotions tend to be greasier so tend to be more prone to clogging facial pores. Use these from the neck down. Most aftershave lotions contain moisturizing ingredients so these work well. Just make sure you use it sparingly and avoid the aftershaves which have SD booze as an ingredient. These will dry your face out and make points worse.

2. Cover it up. When outside, cover your exposed skin from the harsh chilly wind. Even if you wear gloves, it is good to moisturize your hands before putting them on (the gloves, not your hands). If you come throughout your hands are extremely dray and cracked, you can carry a hint from the ladies. Before you go to bed, apply a liberal volume of Vasaline or lanolin to your hands and put over a pair of thin cotton gloves. You can come throughout gloves created for this purpose at a medicine store or many significant supermarket and division store chains. The gloves keep the vasaline from obtaining all over the place and allows it to operate into your skin all night long while you sleep. Women are already doing this for ages. becoming a hard guy, you might feel silly doing this for a couple of nights in a row, but it works great and nobody needs to understand but you.

3. Don’t slow down. Most persons tend to cut back on their actual fitness inside the chilly winter months. Don’t do this. As pointed out above, exercise brings on perspiration, which is good for your skin and scalp.

4. Protect from the sun. Just because its chilly outdoors does not mean you can’t get a sunburn. Apply a moisturizing sunscreen if you program on becoming out inside the sun for long periods of time. Your cheeks and nose are most Mulberry outlet vulnerable. SPF 15 or higher is best.

5. Lips need help, too. Chapped or cracked lips are also common inside the winter. your skin tissue of your lips is very delicate and produces small natural moisturizing oils. Frequent lip licking brings temporary relief but actually dries out your lips even quicker. Over the counter lip balms are a should and I am a large buff of the Carmex brand. I such as the scent and it genuinely soothes dry chapped lips. If you suffer from serious chapped lips, you should use a lip balm during the day, but at night you should apply a liberal volume of Vaseline. It may carry a few nights of greasy lips, but the healing results are worth it…and your sweetheart can be more appreciative, too.

6. Wear the shades. Sunny times inside the winter can be hard on your eye balls with the sunlight reflecting back up off the snow. Wearing sunglasses will not only protect your eye balls but will also keep you from squinting as much. Frequent squinting will help promote crows feet…those wrinkles in the corners of your eyes. You don’t want these because they will make your face start searching older.

7. Drink water. Don’t cut back about the H2O in chilly weather. Staying properly hydrated allows to moisturize your skin from the inside out. Good water consumption promotes better circulation which in turn helps in bringing needed vitamins to your skin.

NBA washout Samaki Walker gets pulled over

Former NBA big man and current star of the Syrian league Samaki Walker tried to beat a drug rap last Thursday, after his Mercedes was pulled over, by doing what any sensible pothead would do. He tried to eat the stuff as the police closed in.

Now comes the news that Samaki was pulled over during what a wire service via Deadspin is calling “a routine traffic stop” (hearing that phrase always makes me uncomfortable, even if they land a few baddies) and was found to be carrying 10 grams of marijuana, some apparently recreational prescription drugs and 10 bottles of liquid steroids.

Seemingly content to be found with just the pills and the steroids, Walker attempted to eat the marijuana. Eighty percent of it, at least. He was charged for all 10 grams, mind you. Makes sense — if you eat half of a legal pot brownie as you walk up to the counter of a café in Amsterdam, I’m guessing, you’d still eventually have to pay for the whole thing.

No word on just how much pot Walker had ingested before settling on the outfit pictured above.

Is Duke’s Kyle Singler a perfect fit for the Thunder?

Nothing about Singler is sexy.

He’s 23. He’s a four-year college player. He’s an average athlete.

But the guy knows how to play. And he’s a winner. And he’s a tough-as-nails competitor who will do anything to help his team.

That’s the kind of player the Thunder adores.

Some view Singler and see limited upside. The Thunder is more likely to see a ready-made rotation player who could carve out a 15-year career.

Some question Singler’s ability because he stayed in college. The Thunder is more likely to admire his makeup for choosing to stick around Tobacco Road and willingly become an unquestioned leader rather than fleeing for NBA riches following a national title as a junior.

And while others say Singler isn’t great at anything, the Thunder is more likely to fall in love with at all the little things he does well.

Singler averaged 16.9 points and 6.8 rebounds as a senior at Duke. But his value extends beyond the box score. One league source described Singler’s game as potentially being similar to Thunder forward Nick Collison’s.

At the Chicago Pre-Draft camp, Singler’s unbridled motor once forced him to step in and take a charge on a player during what was supposed to be a non-contact drill. Some might have snickered. Others might have seen evidence that Singler knows only one speed.

According to Singler’s agent, Greg Lawrence, Singler conducted 14 workouts for teams leading up to the draft. While many players annually refuse workouts, Singler went head-to-head with UCLA’s Tyler Honeycutt — a player projected to be selected in the same range as Singler — in several sessions, including one in Oklahoma City.

Though Singler’s measurements might not have stood out in drills, his impact in the competitive portions always seemed to impress. His teams, be it games of 2-on-2 or 3-on-3, generally found ways to win.

“Whichever team ends up drafting him is going to be really pleased with the type of player and person they’re getting,” said Lawrence.

Singler’s pedigree is also significant.

Spurs Named Top NBA Team In ESPN

ESPN The Magazine released its ‘The Ultimate Standings’ rankings for 2011 today and the San Antonio Spurs were named the top NBA franchise and the fifth-best professional team out of 122 total teams from the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB franchises. The Spurs have ranked as the top NBA franchise six times and is the only franchise to have been named the top overall team twice among the four major sports since ESPN introduced its annual survey in 2003.

“It is with great pride that we congratulate the San Antonio Spurs for being ranked as ESPN The Magazine’s top NBA franchise for the sixth time,” said NBA Commissioner David Stern. “San Antonio’s commitment to excellence starts with owner Peter Holt, is instilled in every member of the organization, and makes the Spurs a model franchise both on and off the court.”

The Spurs ranked number one overall in two categories that were part of the judging process to determine the best overall sports franchise; ‘fan relations’ and ‘players.’ ‘Fan relations’ is described as the openness and consideration of players, coaches and management toward fans and the ‘players’ category is described as the effort on the court and the likeability off the court of franchise players.

Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith was cited by Miami police for driving a scooter without a driver’s license

Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith was cited by Miami police on Saturday for driving a scooter without a driver’s license, the website TMZ reported, another in a line of automobile charges for the six-year NBA pro.

The website, citing law enforcement officials, reported that Smith signed a notice to appear in court at a later date.

Smith in 2009 was suspended by the league for the first seven games of the season after he pleaded guilty to reckless driving during a 2007 auto accident that killed his friend, Andre Bell.

Because of that plea and other driving offenses, Smith’s license was suspended until March 2012.

The Nuggets were eliminated from the NBA playoffs in the first round by Oklahoma City. And Smith, who is an unrestricted free agent, has said he’s frustrated with Denver coach George Karl and might want to sign with another team.

Spurs vs. Grizzlies Round 1 Game 5

Duncan meant this series. But the stakes for him may go even further.

Duncan, at the end what became a terrible 35th birthday, spoke softly after Memphis crushed the Spurs 104-86 on Monday in Game 4, putting San Antonio on the brink of becoming just the second No. 1 seed in NBA history to lose a best-of-seven series in the first round.

Drafting the obituary of the Duncan era has been something of a spring tradition since 2008, a year after San Antonio won the last of its four championships. It remains premature to declare this the last run for the Spurs, whether or not Memphis finishes them off Wednesday.

Yet these Spurs won 61 games. They secured home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. They played quicker, became a little younger this season and kept their Big 3 mostly healthy for the first time in years.

If it’s not the last run for the Spurs, at the very least, they seem on the verge of squandering a position Duncan may never see again.

“We got a lot to lose,” Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. “We had an unbelievable season. We were the No. 1 seed in the league for 65, 70 games, playing unbelievable.”

None of that has mattered to Memphis.

“They’re the better team. They won 61 games, and we won 46 games,” Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said. “Their record all year long said they were the better team. As I’ve always said, it doesn’t matter who is this better team during the regular season. When you get to the playoffs, each series you have to be the better team.”

Hollins walked his players through a 25-minute film session in Memphis before the team left for San Antonio. So good a mood was Hollins in, according to guard Tony Allen, that the Grizzlies were bestowed with rare praise from their coach while re-watching their dismantling of the Spurs in the second half of Game 4. “That was a first,” Allen said.

Hollins is hardly the only one in Memphis in high spirits: the city airport gave the team charter plane a water-cannon send-off before takeoff, before the Grizzlies possibly return late Wednesday night with a spot in the Western Conference semifinals.

“There’s not a media person standing around that would’ve gone and put his house and his paycheck on us being up 3-1,” Hollins said Tuesday. “But that’s why you play the games.”

Dallas is the only No. 1 seed to fall in the first round since the series was expanded to the best-of-seven format. That was in 2007, when Golden State beat the Mavericks in six games after Dallas coasted through the regular season with 67 wins.

Only eight teams have rallied from a 3-1 deficit, Phoenix being the last in 2006. That same year, the Spurs nearly joined the list before losing Game 7 in overtime to Dallas, despite Duncan going for 41 points and 15 rebounds.

Five years later Monday night, on his 35th birthday, Duncan had six points and seven rebounds. The Spurs this season diminished his role while putting together the second-best regular season in franchise history, making Duncan more of a complementary piece alongside Tony Parker and Ginobili.

It’s all been a part of what Spurs owner Peter Holt earlier this season called “going from the Tim Duncan era to the next era.” He said that March 4, and later that night, Holt sat courtside next to Texas Gov. Rick Perry as the Spurs crushed LeBron James and the Miami Heat by 30 points.

That night, San Antonio improved to an NBA-best 51-11 – already more wins than the Grizzlies would get – and few teams looked as legitimate championship contenders as the Spurs.

NBA News: Thunder and Denver Nuggets

Such was the case in Game 1 of the Thunder’s playoff series against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, when the two all-stars’ numbers jumped off the stat sheet.

Durant had 41 points, shot 13 for 22 from the field, 3 for 6 from 3-point range and grabbed nine rebounds. Westbrook had 31 points, shot 12 for 23 from the field — 3 for 4 beyond the arc — and added seven assists and six rebounds.

Throw reserve guard Eric Maynor into the mix (12 points; 5 for 7; 2 for 3 in just 12 minutes) and everyone else on the Thunder roster combined to score 23 points and shoot 32.0 percent from the field. Though OKC’s supporting cast was barely a blip on the stat sheet, the team was able to sneak out a 107-103 victory inside Oklahoma City Arena.

How the Thunder’s role players perform in Game 2 at 7 p.m. Wednesday could swing the series in what qualifies as an extremely intriguing opening-round matchup.

Denver (107.5) led the NBA in scoring during the regular season and OKC (104.8) ranked fifth, but each team lights up the scoreboard much differently, and both made significant trades before the Feb. 24 deadline.

With Carmelo Anthony (25.2 ppg) and Chauncey Billups (16.5) now in New York, the Nuggets (Denver Nuggets jerseys) thrive with a more balanced attack.

With Jeff Green (15.2) and Nenad Krstic (7.6) shipped to Boston, the Thunder(Oklahoma City Thunder jerseys) tries to pummel opponents with two sledgehammers in Durant and Westbrook.

Not everyone on OKC’s roster can fill a stat sheet, which is fine as long as everyone fulfills his particular role.

Rick Adelman And Rockets–mutual parting

Adelman and Rockets owner Les Alexander didn’t have a strong relationship, league sources said. The veteran coach also could be attracted to a possible opening on another team that would offer him a better chance to win.

The Rockets want their new coach to play their young players and embrace their creativity in the free-agent market, which doesn’t sound like a team adamant about winning immediately. Adelman, who turns 65 on June 16, just completed the last year of his contract.

Rockets assistant Elston Turner and former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown are considered to be among the candidates for the job, league sources said.
